After the cancellation of the Digital Equity Act in 2025, thousands of people lost internet access and, with it, opportunities for education, work, and healthcare. While some lack connectivity, others leave a large portion of their mobile data unused every month. That’s why Verizon will turn unused mobile data into connectivity for communities affected by the digital divide. Through their phones, users will be able to donate their unused data capacity to power community hotspots installed in libraries, schools, and community centers, providing free and reliable Wi-Fi to those who need it most.
